How to Eat During the Holidays Without Gaining Weight
Many people dive into holiday meals with the thought that they will make up for it with workouts later. The truth is, this rarely yields the desired result. That's why we've created a strategy that allows you to enjoy the holidays without extra pounds.
Pre-holiday Preparation – The Key to Success
3 days before the festive feast, significantly reduce carbohydrates. The goal is to deplete glycogen stores from your liver and muscles to create space for the additional energy you will consume.
How to do it:
- For women: 2 x 15g carbohydrates for breakfast and after training
- For men: 2 x 30g carbohydrates at the same time
- Workouts: circuit training with short breaks and HIIT cardio
Sample Pre-Holiday Regimen
For Women:
- Breakfast: 3–4 egg whites + 1 grapefruit
- Lunch: 120g chicken + vegetables
- Afternoon: Protein + rice cakes
- After training: Green apple or more protein
- Dinner: 120g salmon + vegetables
For Men:
- Breakfast: 6–7 egg whites, 1 yolk + 50g oatmeal
- Lunch: 150g turkey + vegetables
- Afternoon: White fish + grapefruit
- After training: Protein
- Dinner: 250g salmon + vegetables
The Day of the Holiday
Start with a cardio workout and a light breakfast (egg whites, grapefruit, green tea). Before lunch, drink 2 glasses of water with lemon and start with a large salad. This will limit the amount of food you eat afterward.
Main course: Enjoy slowly and with pleasure. Don't rush.
Dessert: One portion is perfectly sufficient – better a full experience than uncontrolled overeating.
After the Holiday Dinner
A smoothie, salad, or vegetables + a serving of protein will keep your metabolism active. If another dinner is coming – start again with a salad and limit yourself to one main course portion and dessert.
