I have been training for more than 20 years and always maintain a decent shape, as you can see from the BEFORE photo – just under 90 kg, decent muscle definition, clean food, good workouts, but… just like for every person, difficult moments come into life. Stress, troubles at work, personal problems… All this happened shortly after the COVID-19 hysteria, when the business was almost bankrupt, a difficult breakup and a bunch of other things, you know evil never comes alone…
And literally within days, I saw my body changing, getting worse day by day. Considering that I hadn't stopped training, of course not with such intensity, but I was still training. I hadn't been eating junk, quite the opposite, I was trying to consume more and more protein… and the effect was… even worse!
And then I realized that no matter how much I "tightened" my diet, no matter how much meat I ate, no matter how much cardio I did, if I didn't deal with what was in my head, I would never be able to change my shape!
And what did I do? The exact opposite of what was expected.
- I slightly reduced my workouts and started training for pleasure – when I felt like training, as much as I felt like training, and whatever I felt like training. If I felt strong, I did heavy workouts; if I wanted to pump up a bit, I used machines and cables. If I felt like it was no longer fun, I got up and left the gym….
- I also made changes to my diet! I stopped stuffing myself with so much food, protein, and everything "by the rules"; I started eating less, with food I love, when I felt like it – usually 4 times a day – 2 shakes, some meat for lunch, and fish or an omelet for dinner. Carbohydrates – when and as much as I wanted.
- As for supplements, I DID NOT USE heavy fat burners, boosters, nothing…. that would further strain my nervous system!
But the most important change was in my HEAD! In my thinking! I looked for motivation again, tried to enter a goal-chasing stage again! This insanely boosts dopamine and happiness hormones! I read Viktor Frankl's book and realized that what was happening to me was a drop in the ocean, nothing complicated, nothing bad… life is good and I should be grateful for the opportunity it gives me to change the situation….
And so, fewer workouts, less obsession with food, more books, more positive thoughts, more ambition…. and everything happened!
